SophiaVerse—UI System Design & Animation
As the Motion Graphics Artist and UI Lead for SophiaVerse, I designed and animated a complete UI system for a first-person 3D adventure game from scratch, including icons, menus, buttons, character customization, diegetic interfaces, and gameplay systems.
Together with VP of UX Brendan Ma and overseen by Lead Game Designer Eloh, I built and shipped hundreds of assets for the game developers to implement in Unity. I worked with Eloh to design the functionality and interaction of every UI system, from logging in and character creation to puzzle designs, dialogue and crafting systems, and resource management. I also championed accessibility standards across the project, improving text readability, contrast ratios, and non-color-dependent UI differentiation.
Many of these systems are complex and take significant time to implement in-engine, so to showcase them in teasers and trailers and provide guidelines for the developers on how they should look and feel, I animated and composited user flows and interactions in After Effects over gameplay footage. The trailer below shows many of these systems in context.
